Celebrate Creativity in SC 2008
A Juried Art Competition for SC Artists
Deadline for entries– April 30, 2008
Eligibility
Open to anyone 18 years of age or older and who are residents of South Carolina or who are currently enrolled in a SC college or university. Each artist may submit up to three works of art.
Work Eligible
All works of art must be original. Any original 2-D or 3-D work completed in 2007 or 2008 is eligible. Original works of art from any medium will be considered including but not limited to paintings, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, fiber, construction art, etc. Any work considered offensive by the juror will be disqualified.
The works of art cannot have been previously exhibited in any show or competition in South Carolina. All artwork (including frame) must not exceed 6 feet in any direction
Selected two dimensional works of art must be professionally presented and ready to hang.
Selected three dimensional works of art may not exceed 75 pounds and must either be secured to a base or able to be placed on a pedestal or table. If assembly is required, it is strongly suggested that the artist hand deliver and assemble artwork.
The theme for the original works of art should be based on a song called “Carolina Sunshine, Carolina Rain” by Nelle McMaster Sprott. The words are included with the entry information and will offer the artist many opportunities for celebrating creativity in SC.
Entry Fee
Non-refundable entry fee of $10 per entry for up to three entries. Please make checks or money orders payable to Sandlapper Art & Frame (main sponsor for this competition).
Submission Specifications
All entries should be submitted on a CD. No slides or email submissions. One CD may contain all entries including up to 3 images of 3-D submissions. Images should be jpeg files at least 72 dpi (max width 10 inches).
The image should be saved with the artist’s last name, then identifying name of artwork such as smithsunshine.jpeg. Each CD should be labeled with the artist full name and with the complete name of each work of art. An image list should accompany the CD and have the following information:
1. Artist full name, address, phone number and email address
2. Title of each work of art on that CD
3. Date, price, dimensions and medium
A completed entry form, the CD and image list, an artist statement and/or resume (one page max), and the entry fee(s) should be mailed to
